The Atwell Youth Awards, now in its 17th year is for young artists of high-school age, ie year 7 to year 12 and is an opportunity for them to exhibit work in the Atwell Gallery in Alfred Cove. We accept entries from individuals or from schools. For those of you that have entered before, we’d love to see you again, to others, we'd love to meet you.
We aim to display a fabulous variety of work and our gallery always looks amazing — the annual AYA exhibition is one of the highlights of our year. The AYA now has it's own facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/atwellyouthawards/

Please see attached Entry Form and School Control sheet.
The idea is that individual students fill out an entry form. Teachers then check and consolidate their students’ entries onto a control sheet. Please photocopy the details on the entry form to use as a label for the actual artwork when it is delivered. We also encourage students to discuss their work in an artist statement.

There is no overall theme but we do have a couple of special challenges each year.
Due to the popularity of our previous Challenge to use recycled materials we are including it again in 2019 but with a bit of a twist. We are now making it a bit more topical and referring to it as a “Waste to Art” project, so please encourage young artists to see the possibilities in otherwise discarded “junk” and create a masterpiece.

The other Challenge for 2019 is the Special Theme, “Noah’s Ark”. This theme will give teachers the opportunity to discuss with students the literal meaning of the Ark, the animals going in two by two. Alternatively, the concept of survival of a species could even lend itself to Sci-Fi or space orientated ideas. We invite teachers to do a project on the topic.
